The LifeCam Show packs high-quality performance into one of the smallest webcams on the market. Take it with you anywhere you take your notebook, or use it as a desktop camera for your home computer. LifeCam Show has a handy carrying case and multiple attachment options so it does double duty as a notebook webcam too. Top-of-the-line optics give you excellent performance in low light; the built-in microphone provides high-quality sound; and the sleek design looks great no matter where you use it.

Ultra-thin mobile design.LifeCam Show features a mirrored finish and soft-touch casing on a camera that fits in the palm of your hand, and the carrying case stores and protects the camera when it's not in use. LifeCam Show is one of the most compact webcams on the market.
Three ways to position the camera. The magnetic attachment system lets you decide how you want to stage your camera. Use the desktop stand for home computer use - it provides a stable base and doesn't take up much space. A notebook clip lets you temporarily attach the camera. Or use the adhesive-backed attachment disc on your laptop - the camera attaches to the low-profile, brushed-nickel-plated surface of the attachment disc. It's stable and easy to pack away when you're done using it - you can even close your laptop with the webcam still attached. Don't worry, the adhesive discs are easy to remove and won't affect the finish of your laptop.
Low light, no problem. The custom-designed glass element lens uses a large aperture that increases the amount of light that reaches the 2.0-megapixel sensor.

Quality audio. The built-in unidirectional microphone with acoustic noise cancellation delivers crystal-clear audio to give you a top-of-the-line audio experience.
Adjusting the audio and video settings of your LifeCam: Open the LifeCam Capture User Interface by either clicking on the Microsoft LifeCam shortcut on your desktop or by clicking on Start, All Programs and then Microsoft LifeCam. Once the program is open, click on the Settings icon (1) to bring up the control panel for the webcam. Here you can adjust the resolution, lighting, audio and more.
Super smart - and fun - video effects. The software that's included with the LifeCam includes new video effects that are built on face recognition technology. There are fun house mirror-type effects, letting you distort and change the shape of your face while you talk. And wacky accessories - you can apply sunglasses, a tiara and other fun add-ons to your image - move with you when you move, adding a lot more fun to webcam conversations.
Video Messages. Take advantage of the high-quality audio and video features in LifeCam Show by sending a video message to your friends or family - even if they don't have a webcam or aren't online. Sign into the Windows Live Video Messages beta Web site, record your video and send it off. Or launch Video Messages directly from the LifeCam Video Messages gadget with one click. While you do need to have a compatible LifeCam and broadband connection to send and receive messages using the LifeCam Video Messages gadget, anyone with a PC and a broadband connection can receive Video Messages. And the best part is, it's free!
Optimized for Windows Live. LifeCam Show gives you access to all the fun videoconferencing features in Windows Live:
Photo Swap allows you to share and swap photos during your video call - letting you see and hear the reactions of your friends and family.
Windows Live Call Button opens a list of your contacts so you can see who is online right now.
One-Touch Blogging lets you immediately post photos directly to Windows Live Spaces.
LifeCam Dashboard incorporates full LifeCam navigational controls (pan, tilt, zoom, face tracking and Video Effects) within the Windows Live Messenger interface, enabling a seamless and easy navigating experience. The LifeCam software controls are where they should be - right in front of the user.
Background and Research: Webcams everywhere
Our research has found that customers are using their webcams in more places and on multiple computers, so Microsoft Hardware created a webcam that is perfect for use with both notebook and desktop computers. The attachment options allow it to attach to virtually any screen, or sit directly on the desktop stand - and the carrying case protects it when you've packed it away for travel.
Price
The estimated retail price of the Microsoft LifeCam Show is $99.95 (U.S.)
Availability
Microsoft LifeCam Show will be widely available in October 2008.
Did You Know?
You don't need to worry about the magnet in the camera or the attachment disc; it won't affect your credit cards and it won't damage the casing on your laptop or your LCD screen.
A webcam without low-light adjustment is like a camera without a flash. All Microsoft LifeCams are equipped with state-of-the-art low-light-adjustment technology, so you can focus on your video conversation and not on lighting.
The LifeCam's noise-canceling microphone is suspended inside a tiny air chamber inside the webcam to prevent it from vibrating against other materials and causing excess noise. It's just like a recording studio!
Companies are using webcams to reduce travel expenses and improve employee work-life balance.
